Just last month, we came across a peculiar looking entry-level sportbike called the Lexmoto LXR 125. More interestingly, this mean little sportbike happened to be one of the best selling bikes from the company’s portfolio in the UK. But that’s just the start. Lexmoto seems to have a few other products that might just pique your interest. The one that stood out the most is the recently launched LXS 125 -- a Euro-compliant entry-level motorcycle with a couple of unique features.
I say ‘unique’ because this is possibly the only 125 motorcycle that features an underseat exhaust, flanked by Ducati Panigale V4-styled tail lights. The headlight, on the other hand, is a split LED unit. The brash design language and the striking Yamaha R6 colour schemes showcase the bike’s sporty intent. It’s available in two colours: matt grey/fluro yellow and black/blue.
The LXS 125 is designed for A1 holders, as a result, it packs a small Euro-5 compliant liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor that’s capable of dishing out 14PS of peak power at 8,750rpm. That’s just 0.5PS shy of the KTM RC 125. That said, it does get a 6-speed transmission.
Its hardware is quite captivating as well. You have twin petal discs up front and a single rotor at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and a monoshock. As for its tyres, the LXS 125 features 16-inch wheels shod with 110/70-section tyres up front and a fat 140/70-section tyre at the rear.
Despite being pegged as an entry-level sportbike, the riding posture seems pretty comfortable with raised clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs. At 790mm, the seat height is fairly accessible too.
Everything seems perfect until you get to the price. The Lexmoto LXS 125 retails at £2,499.99, equivalent to around Rs 2.62 lakh. That’s RC 390 money here in India, so it definitely doesn’t come cheap. Also, the 125cc sportbike segment in India is pretty niche so it doesn’t make business sense for a brand like Lexmoto to offer its products here.
