The price of the ZX-10RR has been bumped up by Rs 88,000 and now stands at Rs 16.98 lakh, while the price of the Ninja ZX-10R remains unchanged

Initially, the Ninja ZX-10R and the Ninja ZX-10RR were launched in India via the CBU (Completely Built Unit) route, which turned out to be quite an expensive proposition for enthusiasts longing to get their hands on the litre-class bike. Kawasaki took a note of the growing demand and decided to locally manufacture the bikes, which resulted in a massive price cut. In effect, the made-in-India superbikes received an introductory price of Rs 12.80 lakh and Rs 16.1 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Ninja ZX-10R and the Ninja ZX-10RR respectively. The outcome? The bikes were sold out within 15 days of launch.

Now, however, Kawasaki has increased the price of the ZX-10RR to Rs 16.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which is a hike of Rs 88,000 while the price of the base variant remains unchanged. The Ninja ZX-10R is offered in the Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) livery along with subtle updates to the graphics, while the ZX-10RR gets an all-black colour scheme. In terms of rider aids, the ZX-10RR features three power modes, launch control, ABS, five levels of traction control, a quick shifter, a Bosch inertial measurement unit (IMU) and Kawasaki's corner management function (KCMF).

The track-inspired ZX-10RR draws power from a 998cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, inline four motor that is tuned to develop almost 200PS of power at 13000rpm and 113.5Nm of peak torque at 11,500 rpm. Alterations to the engine include a modified cylinder head, Diamond-like Carbon (DLC) coated tappets, and stronger, reinforced, highly rigid crankcase. It comes mated to a six-speed transmission and is capable of clocking a top speed of 299kmph. The bike tips the scale at 206kg with a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres.

Positioned above the ZX-10R, the ZX-10RR also gets specially designed Marschini 7-spoke multi-directional forged aluminium wheels, wrapped in Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres and is anchored by premium Brembo M50 monobloc radial calipers.

The Kawasaki ZX-10RR goes up against the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP (Rs.21.22 lakh), Yamaha YZF-R1 (Rs 18.16 lakh), BMW S1000 RR Pro (Rs 20.75 lakh), Suzuki GSX R1000 (Rs 19.8 lakhs), Aprilia RSV4-RF (Rs 24.99 lakh) and the Ducati Panigale V4 S (Rs 25.29 lakh, all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
