With a starting price tag of Rs 48,410 (ex-showroom, Delhi) the new Mahindra Gusto 125, which was initially available in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka only, has now been launched in 8 more states.
When it was launched a couple of months ago the more powerful version of the Mahindra Gusto was made available only in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. However, the company has now officially announced the availability of the new Gusto 125 in eight more states across India. The scooter comes in two variants, DX and VX, which are priced at Rs 40,410 and Rs 52,410 (both ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.
Commenting on expanding the availability of the Mahindra Gusto 125, Vinod Sahay, chief operating officer, Mahindra Two Wheelers Ltd said, “Since its launch last year, Gusto has grown consistently and we are now excited about extending the Gusto brand into include new consumer segments. The all-new Mahindra Gusto 125 is bound to turn heads on roads in India as it is packed with a powerful 125 cc M-TEC engine with load sensing MCDi technology and stylish looks to match! We continue with Gusto’s innovative car-like features, like India’s only Height Adjustable Seat, that makes the new Mahindra Gusto 125 a complete, fully loaded scooter that is sure to delight consumers.”
Developed completely in-house at Mahindra's R&D centre in Pune the new Gusto 125 gets a more powerful 125cc M-tech engine as compared to the 110cc version. The MCDi technology equipped motor is capable of varying the ignition timing for better performance in different load conditions. Mated to a CVT gearbox the engine produces 8.7PS and delivers 10Nm of peak torque which increases the load carrying capacity of the scooter and makes it more enjoyable in the city traffic.
The 12-inch wheels with tubeless tyres offer excellent ride quality along with the well-tuned suspension set-up which comprises of front telescopic forks and a monoshock at the rear. Both the trims feature drum brakes at both ends but we believe that company should provide front disc brake as an optional extra with it. Extra premium features of the Gusto 125 VX trim include a remote flip key, height adjustable seat, guide lamps and find me-lamps. The easy front kick, quick storage and LED pilot lamps come with both the trims.
Along with all these features and good performance the scooter comes in 4 colour options -- Orange Rush, Bolt White, Monarch Black and Regal Red. Talking about the competition, the new Mahindra Gusto 125 stands against the likes of the Honda Activa 125 and the Suzuki Access 125.
