Certainly one of the few tastefully designed and built Avengers till date
Neev Motorcycles is known for skillfully crafting off-the-shelf Royal Enfields into stunning one-of-a-kind motorcycles. Hence, it’s refreshing to find a Bajaj bike featuring in the Delhi-based custom house’s portfolio. This custom Avenger 220 is called the ‘Atom’ and it’s one mean-looking machine.
In the flesh, with the Atom’s completely blacked out skin over the Harley-Davidson-inspired Sportster-esque styling, its Bajaj DNA remains masked tastefully. The only giveaway is the signature engine casing and oil-cooler. Without the latter, you could easily mistake it for the Avenger 160. Standout features on the Atom certainly are the chunky wheels and retro-looking fork sleeves.
Mechanically, the only visible change to the 220cc air-/oil-cooled motor is the freeflow exhaust system which likely is supported by a freeflow air filter too. Even the braking hardware remains unchanged with a disc at the front and drum at the rear. That said, the new rims and block pattern tyres will negatively affect this cruiser’s cruising abilities not to mention the loss of acceleration and top speed.
Which begs the question, when will Bajaj finally come around to updating the Avenger series with the new 250cc and 160cc engines we have seen on the new generation Pulsars!
