Apart from this, the company is also said to be working on an even more hardcore 'Raid' variant
- Standard Himalayan 450 could be launched around mid-2023.
- Raid variant is said to get better underpinnings and possibly a tweaked engine.
- Could command a premium around Rs 30,000 over the standard variant.
While we’ve already seen exclusive spy shots of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, new details of the ADV have surfaced online, including a more hardcore Raid variant.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is said to feature a ride-by-wire throttle with three riding modes: Road, Rain, and Offroad. In the Offroad mode, the ABS at the rear is deactivated. The motorcycle will also reportedly come with a feature-packed vertical instrument cluster. Expect smartphone connectivity and navigation to be present too.
Powering the Himalayan 450 will be a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine displacing approximately 450cc, which is a first for the bikemaker. It could produce somewhere around 40PS and 40Nm, with a good low-end performance, and will be linked to a 6-speed transmission. We’ve already seen the test mule sporting inverted front fork, rear linked monoshock, 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels. It will reportedly be wrapped with Ceat dual-purpose tyres (with a 50-50 road and off-road bias) developed specifically for the motorcycle.
The Himalayan 450 is also said to feature a beefier tail rack, a generously-large fuel tank, a host of accessories including heated grips, handlebars, knuckle guards, and panniers (both hard case and soft ones).
As mentioned before, the Chennai-based bikemaker is working on an even more hardcore variant, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Raid. And yes, as the name suggests, it will be a Dakar-inspired ADV, complete with upgraded underpinnings.

The upcoming variant is said to get upgraded suspension, possibly adjustable units, spoke wheels with tubeless tyres, bigger fuel tank, and a more powerful engine as well. That said, we expect the Raid variant’s engine to offer slightly better performance. The company also reportedly plans to enter the Dakar rally with the new bike.
Royal Enfield could launch the Himalayan 450 in mid-2023, at a price of around Rs 2.75 lakh, and the Raid variant could command a premium of around Rs 25,000 over the standard model. The company could launch the Raid variant by 2024. By the time this ADV hits the roads, its rivals the KTM 390 Adventure R and the Hero 450cc ADV would be available in the market.
