The TVS StaR City+ has been a tireless workhorse for the Chennai-based manufacturer and, in the absence of any major upgrades, a nip here and a tuck there is the least that you can expect. In an attempt to add more panache to the rather simple commuter, it has been launched in a ‘Chocolate Gold Edition’ avatar at a sticker price of Rs 49,234 (ex-Showroom, Delhi) on Tuesday.
The Chocolate Gold edition of the TVS StaR City+ will be available along with other premium colours like Matte Titanium Grey Edition and the Gold Edition model across the country, informed a press release.
Cosmetically, the most prominent feature on the bike is the set of gold alloys that are taken from the Gold Edition. Apart from brown-coloured 3D badging on the fairing, the StaR City+ largely remains the same with brushes of tan and white on a brown canvas.
Other features of the motorcycle include digital fuel gauge, long wheelbase, wide rear tyre, and an analogue speedometer.
There are no changes on the mechanical front as the Chocolate Gold edition of TVS StaR City+ remains powered by the tried and tested 110cc single-cylinder air-cooled mill that churns out 8.8PS and 8.7Nm of torque. Power is transmitted via a four-speed gearbox.
The company believes that colours are a testament to the rider’s personality and play a significant role in the purchase decision. “With this new edition, we aim to reach out to the stylish yet pragmatic riders who are looking for a dash of style in their ride experience.” said TVS’ head of marketing (motorcycles), Arun Siddharth.
If you are a little taken aback by the amount of glitz in the new edition of the StaR City+, just look up the Hero Splendor Pro Gold Special Edition and you’ll figure out that it’s not happening for the first time in this segment.
