Royal Enfield, a company, which has innumerable fans throughout the world, is hiring. And hiring young talent. They say “Catch them young.” Dr Venki Padmanabhan, Chief Executive Officer, replied to a question by Business Line, “We want to attract youngsters who are passionate about biking and understand what it is all about.” A new plant has been opened in Orragadam at the outskirts of Chennai. This is the location where they need more people to work with. Says Dr. Padmanabhan “People are coming from all over the country to work in this part of Chennai.
The challenge is to get this talent pool to think beyond the big fish and come to us.” Royal Enfield has been operating from the northern Chennai since forever, which the company does not find to be an attractive location when compared to Renault-Nissan and Daimler Commercial Vehicles. With the new unit, both these two companies would play neighbors to the Royal bikes.
The MD and CEO of Eicher Motors, which owns Royal Enfield as of now, believes that a youngster who joins the company soon gets areas of designated responsibilities and thus starts taking charge from the very beginning, thus widening up the career path. “We want to be a paranoid company, at least internally, even though it is a cool image to the outside world. As much as it is great to have more customers today, we cannot take this for granted as nobody can wait forever,” Dr Padmanabhan said.
Enfield has an objective behid its new plant. Uptil now, the customers had to wait really long for RE products. And when RE brought the Classic series, the waiting period just increased. Royal Enfield Bullet Classic 350 and Classic 500 made its lovers wait real long, since these few bikes made its demand sore rocket high. Also, with its second innings, hoping to do great and soaring business in India, RE will be focusing a lot on the engine, frame, tank, etc.
