A powerful parallel-twin motor paired with off-road components. It can’t get simpler than this!
Royal Enfield is known for promoting custom builds of its classic motorcycle based on the 650cc platform. The term radical, quite frankly, is an understatement when it comes to these builds. So when a slightly sober and sensible build comes along, it’s quite invigorating. A 650cc scrambler has always been one of the top choices for custom builders, but very few have actually managed to pull it off with elegance. However, the chaps for Moto Classic House intend to change this perception with their own take on the Interceptor 650.
The Interceptor 650 is a heavy bike, so shedding some weight was top priority. Luckily, that wasn’t a problem for MCH. A set of dual high-mount Zard exhaust pipes did the trick. The unit helped reduce 12kg of weight compared to the OEM exhaust -- plenty by motorcycle standards. To help the engine breath better with the new exhaust, the ECU has been flashed.
In true scrambler fashion, the bike has been fitted with a simple bash plate that protects the underside of the engine from rocks and debris. It also comes equipped with a headlight grille picked up from Royal Enfields very own accessories catalogue.
For off-road oriented ergonomics, the standard handlebar has been swapped out for a motocross-style handlebar paired with handlebar risers. The bar-end weights and rearview mirrors come from RE itself. As for the levers, they’ve been replaced by fully adjustable units for added convenience.
Other notable changes include a small top rack and a set of Michelin Anakee knobby tires for extra grip out in the dirt. What’s unclear is the suspension setup. From the looks of it, it retains the stock configurations which could probably handle some smooth trails but isn’t meant for proper off-road riding. So if we were you, we’d take it easy.
Unfortunately, this custom Interceptor Scrambler is only available in Latvia as of now for €9380, equivalent to Rs 7.76 lakh. The exorbitant price tag is due to the bike being an import in that country. In India, it would be a lot cheaper. Besides, customers could take inspiration from this bike and build their very own customer Interceptor 650 scrambler. What are your thoughts?
