Okinawa Okhi-90 Vs Ola S1 Pro: Range, Features And Performance Compared

Let’s check how these desi e-scooters fare against each other on paper 

We have seen immense growth in the EV space recently with both startups and mainstream auto manufacturers running in the EV race. With the Okhi-90’s launch, Okinawa takes on the premium electric scooter segment with a fully featured-packed e-scooter flaunting impressive claimed figures and specs. One of the scooters it will be rivalling is the Ola S1 Pro. Let’s see what both of them have on offer.

Range 

Living up to being an addition to the premium segment of e-scooters, the Okhi-90 comes packed with a 3.6kWh removable lithium-ion battery, offering a claimed range of 160km. 

On the other hand, the Ola S1 Pro gets a slightly bigger but non-removable 3.97kWh lithium-ion battery pack and offers a claimed ARAI range of 180km and company claimed true range of 135km. Ola with its Hypercharger network should be able to reduce the range anxiety to a certain extent amongst its consumers, as compared to the Okhi-90.

Both scooters have a longer range compared to other rivals on sale currently like the Ather 450X, TVS iQube Electric and Bajaj Chetak. 

Features 

Both the e-scooters flaunt an array of features making them equally desirable in their own way. The Ola S1 Pro gets a proper TFT touch screen with full-fledged navigation, whereas the Okhi-90 makes do with an LCD instrument cluster equipped with turn-by-turn navigation. However, both scooters feature keyless start, and an anti-theft alarm. Connectivity features include smartphone and Bluetooth connectivity, notifications, OTA updates, geo-fencing, side stand alert, and music control on both scooters.  Ola S1 Pro, additionally, gets cruise control, hill hold, tamper alert and voice control.

Okhi-90 gets a 40-litre underseat storage which is the biggest in its segment, plus you also get a boot light and a USB charging port. For extra practicality, it also features an apron-mounted glove box and twin utility hooks, all LED lighting, and a light sensor for the headlight. It takes the cake with its massive 16-inch wheels that should offer better ride quality theoretically, not to mention greater ground clearance.

Performance 

The Okhi-90 is powered by a belt-driven 3.8kW motor which is centrally mounted, first for the company. It gets two ride modes, and the company claims that the e-scooter can go up to 85-90kmph in 'Sport' mode and 55-60kmph in Eco mode. Okinawa also claims a 0-90kmph acceleration time of just 10 seconds.

Ola S1 Pro, however, gets a higher top speed of 115kmph, with a 0-60kmph acceleration in just five seconds. It is powered by a permanent magnet motor producing a peak power of 8.5kW and a peak torque of 58Nm.

The bookings for the Okhi-90 have opened up and it is priced at 1,03,866, which is slightly more affordable than the Ola S1 Pro, at Rs 1,10,00. Both prices ex-showroom Delhi post Fame II and state subsidies.
