[Update: The Okinawa Okhi90 e-scooter has been launched. Find all the details in our launch report here.]
Okinawa has teased the Okhi90 electric scooter, revealing its LED headlight and DRLs. The company had earlier announced the Okhi90 will be launched on March 24. This could be the manufacturer’s flagship electric scooter, likely to be priced at Rs 1.2 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Okhi90 was spotted testing earlier, and going by the spy shots, will be a well-proportioned electric scooter complete with 14-inch alloy wheels. The Okhi90 could feature an underseat battery compartment with a removable battery pack. The spy shot also hints at a mid-mounted motor, which is a first for the company. Expect a triple-digit claimed range, and performance equivalent to a 110cc petrol-powered scooter. The e-scooter employs a telescopic front fork, twin rear shock absorber, and a disc brake at both ends.

Other notable features include a full-LCD instrument cluster, and LED indicators and tail lamp. Expect Okinawa to equip the e-scooter with smartphone connectivity as well. The EV maker will be making this electric scooter at its new plant in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.

The Okhi90 will go up against the Ola S1, Ather 450 Plus, TVS iQube Electric, and Bajaj Chetak electric. It will also face tough competition in the future from Hero MotoCorp and Honda. The former is all set to launch a new electric scooter under the Vida sub brand in July, whereas the latter will launch an electric scooter (likely called the Honda Activa Electric) with swappable batteries by the end of this financial year. If Okinawa nails the pricing and range, the Okhi90 will have a fighting chance in the market.
