A fine of Rs 25,000 was also imposed on them
Underaged driving or riding, despite being extremely dangerous, unfortunately, isn’t an uncommon sight on Indian roads. These minors usually manage to get away with this offence too. But not this time!
In a recent incident in Puducherry, the parents of a minor have been sentenced to jail for three years. Additionally, the parents have been struck with a Rs 25,000 fine as well. While further details about the same are sparse, the Transport Department of Puducherry has announced fines worth similar amounts for the parents if underaged kids are caught driving.

All in all, underaged driving is a reckless mistake. Not only does it endanger the lives of other riders on the road, but parents also put the life of their own child in danger that way. We can hence only hope that cases like these discourage such practices in the future, making our roads safer to ride and drive on.
Once they are of a legal age, though, you should check out the Hero Xoom 110. We rode the scooter recently and here’s what we liked and disliked about it.
