From high-performance electric scooters to family-oriented and utilitarian ones, 2024 is going to be electrifying when it comes to new EV launches

The Indian two-wheeler industry has been evolving rapidly and we have witnessed many electrifying launches in 2023. Let’s find out what more is coming our way in 2024:

Honda Activa Electric

Honda already dominates the petrol-powered scooter segment with the Honda Activa 6G. Now, the next natural step for the brand is to get into the fast-growing electric scooter segment. The best and the most obvious candidate for this has to be an Activa-based electric scooter, possibly called the Honda Activa Electric. It could be launched in early 2024. From its pricing to battery details and manufacturing plans, you can read all about it here.

TVS iQube ST

Showcased earlier at the 2023 Auto Expo, the TVS iQube ST comes with a bigger battery pack, a longer range of 145km, and additional features. The electric scooter was supposed to be launched earlier, but its launch got delayed. We hope the iQube ST will be launched sometime in 2024. Bookings are currently closed and TVS is yet to reveal the price either, but we reckon it could cost around Rs 1.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

Suzuki Burgman Electric

The Burgman Street 125-based electric scooter was spied testing in India back in 2021. However, the launch of the Burgman Electric was delayed by a couple of years. Then the e-scooter, called the e-Burgman, was unveiled at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. The Burgman Electric will be the first electric scooter from Suzuki in India, and we expect it to be launched in India sometime in 2024. It could be priced at around Rs 1.2-1.5 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival the Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube S, Ather 450X and Hero Vida V1 Pro.

Updated Hero Vida V1 Pro

Hero MotoCorp’s electric division, Vida is expected to update the Vida V1 Pro in 2024 by adding extra features, including the updated, full-fledged navigation, similar to the Ather 450X. Additionally, a larger battery pack is expected to be included in the update, providing more than the current 110km range. Expect it to be around Rs 15,000 dearer than the current Vida V1 Pro, which costs Rs 1,25,900 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME 2 subsidy).

Ather 450 Apex

The Ather 450 Apex will be the most powerful Ather electric scooter yet. The 450 Apex will feature transparent body panels and will be equipped with Ather’s fastest-ever Warp+ mode. Bookings have commenced at a starting price of Rs 2,500, and the brand commits to starting scooter deliveries in March 2024. Check this story for more details.

Ather Family/Commuter Scooter

The Ather family scooter with a boxy design was spotted earlier. Positioned as a commuter-focused scooter, it is likely to compete against the likes of TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak. Ather’s CEO has confirmed its launch in 2024.

Updated Bajaj Chetak

Bajaj is likely to update the Chetak electric scooter in 2024. The upcoming version of the Chetak is expected to come with several updated features and a bigger battery pack for an extended range than the current 113km range. Moreover, Bajaj can also launch a more affordable Chetak variant with a hub-mounted motor.

Gogoro electric scooter range

Gogoro has recently showcased the made-in-India ‘CrossOver e-scooter range’ along with the launch of its battery-swapping network in Delhi and Goa. Currently, the Gogoro CrossOver GX250 is limited to B2B (business-to-business) sales only. However, the Taiwanese manufacturer plans to sell the CrossOver GX250 to general consumers by the second quarter of 2024.

Raptee Electric Bike

Chennai-based electric mobility brand, Raptee Motors has been developing a streetfighter-based electric motorcycle, which could be revealed in the early 2024. The electric bike was also spotted testing earlier. It could be priced at around Rs 2.9 lakh (ex-showroom), and will be a rival to the Orxa Mantis.

Apart from these, we can also expect updates and/or new colour options for current models from other manufacturers such as Ola Electric, Ultraviolette, Tork Motors, Okinawa, Ampere EV, and Revolt Motors.
