Records break in August of auto sales

Domestic two wheeler market sales break records in August due to have enough supplies for the upcoming festival season and to fulfill current demands. The production was at record last month. Scooter production was up to 48 percent at over 1.73 lakh units. The bike production growth was almost 29 percent at over 8.8 lakh units.
Hero Honda motors reported a rise of 2.3 percent in its sales while Bajaj Auto sold 2.9 lakh units in the month of August. The other competitive companies like Yamaha, Suzuki, Mahindra two wheelers and TVS registered a record sales in last month.
Yamaha Motors registered the growth of 30 percent, it sold 30,450 units in August, well with the wide range of bikes Suzuki reported a 50.78 percent growth in August 2010 sales.
TVS on its highest ever monthly sales at 1,70,735 units in August, a 33.52 percent jump over the sale of August 2009. While Mahindra two wheeler registered the highest growth in percent, it increase of 279 percent. Its monthly sale is 15165 units in August 2010 as against 4005 units in August 2009.
In two-wheelers, domestic sales of scooters were up almost 44% to 170,482 units (118,694) whereas bikes sales surged 19% to 727,542 units (611,168). Scooter exports were 4,440 units (2,196) while bike exports stood at 120,275 units (87,405).
