Round-one of Honda One Make Race Concluded

For the 6th consecutive year, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the only Honda in India is participating in the ‘MMSC - FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2013’ held at Coimbatore Motor Race Track, from 5th – 7th July, 2013. Popularly known as the ‘Honda One Make Race,’ the activity continues to provide ‘Fun Riding Experience’ to all participants as well as spectators in a safe and controlled environment. In its refreshed format, the ‘Honda One Make Race’ now tests the riding capabilities of participants in two broad categories of races- Novice and Open.

With the CBR 250R under Team Championship, Honda will promote its global legacy of providing advanced motor-sports experience for expert riders. This time we will nurture youngsters with the highly popular CBF Stunner race for Novice riders, Open category CBR150R Championship and our nationwide spread of Gymkhana activities” – said Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Bringing intense excitement and adrenaline to the race, the CBR 250R category is under a Team Championship. In the new format, around 20 CBR 250R performance bikes can be leased to teams registered at FMSCI. Excluding the engine, chassis and tires of CBR 250R, any other modifications may be made to enhance performance of vehicle. Honda will further support participating teams with Original Spare parts worth Rs. 10,000 and set of tyres replacement per round. These vehicles are modified with imported HRC performance kits for an exhilarating output.
This year also, riders above 23 years get a chance to directly participate in the Open category Championship. A total of 20 participants can qualify in the 150cc ‘CBR 150R’ Championship. Providing a unique racing platform to Novice riders less than 23 years will be Honda’s popular 125cc CBF Stunner. Over and above ‘Honda One Make Race 2013’, Honda is also providing CBR 150R with original spares support on lease for Group C and Group D of ‘National Motorcycle Racing Championship’ to 4 teams. Over 77 riders participated in Round 1 of Honda One Make Race. 44 riders competed for CBF Stunner cup. A total of 19 participants qualified in the 150cc ‘CBR 150R’ race. 14 expert riders from 5 teams competed in the Team Championship for CBR 250R race. Participants were judged in their respective categories, of which Top 3 racers were awarded attractive cash prizes (1st – Rs. 7500, 2nd – Rs. 5000, 3rd – Rs. 2500). Safety is an issue very close to Honda’s heart. Till date, Honda has engaged over 4265 biking enthusiasts, journalists and spectators through various Fun, Safety riding and Gymkhana activities. Scheduled to be held during Round 1 of Honda One Make Race, 2013 as well, these activities give visitors a unique opportunity to get tips on safe riding from Safety Riding Instructors. Honda spreads its belief that fun-biking can also be safe.
Participants and spectators alike, will enjoy slow riding (an activity that aims at enhancing bike balance), and the highly popular Gymkhana activities (a ‘fun’ riding activity for enhancing rider maneuverability & road-sense) at Round 1 of Honda One Make Race, 2013. Even kids can learn safety riding with CRF-50 model which is specially designed to provide experience and education on two-wheeler & road safety. Aiding first time riders with overall balance, Honda will set up its riding trainers which simulate various traffic, road and weather conditions so that riders can develop a healthy road sense. Currently, all 669 Honda dealerships are equipped with unique riding trainers.
As a responsible corporate, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) has set a new landmark in promotion of road safety and adopted Traffic Education Park in Jaipur by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Rajasthan. In the coming future, HMSI will adopt more traffic training parks in other states as well. To promote riders and develop riding skills Honda Motor Company, Japan initiated in the year 2012 with Asia Dream Cup Motorcycle Racing Championship. Riders will compete for top spot on CBR250R. In this Championship, every Honda Company within Asia is sponsoring 2 riders each to participate in Dream Cup. Inline with the same, HMSI is also sponsoring 2 riders (Mr. Sumit Locus Toppo & Mr. Prabhu Arunagiri) to participate in the championship. Total 6 rounds are to be conducted in Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Japan and Qatar.
