An all-new liquid-cooled engine will power five cool bikes as Royal Enfield has exciting plans ahead
Here’s something that’s bound to drive away the Monday blues for all you Royal Enfield fans. Based on a document presented during an investors meet, it turns out the Chennai-based manufacturer plans to roll-out five new bikes, all of which will have a 450cc, liquid-cooled heart. Exciting, right? Well, let’s dive into the details of these upcoming Royal Enfield bikes.
Himalayan 450
It’s no secret that there is a liquid-cooled Himalayan 450 being tested by Royal Enfield. After all, Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Royal Enfield, had posted a teaser of the motorcycle on his social media handle. Test mules of this Royal Enfield bike have also been spotted on public roads numerous times.
All of these do indicate that this may well be the first bike to be launched off Royal Enfield’s new 450cc platform, most likely around August 2023.
What’s more interesting from the presentation is a more off-road focused variant of the Himalayan 450. We had earlier brought you details about this motorcycle and now, looking at the silhouette, it is clear that this ‘Rally’ variant will serve as a base for Royal Enfield’s Dakar Rally challenger.
Scram 450
The Royal Enfield Scram 450 too has been spotted on test runs on public roads a few times, and it looks to be a more affordable scrambler-style version of the Himalayan 450. Powered by a modern liquid-cooled engine, this bike could appeal to those looking for a sporty, trail-friendly bike. And that’s not all, as there will be two more bikes spawning out of the Scram 450.

One will be a hardcore scrambler to cater to those trail tamers, and the other a cafe racer bike to satiate neo-retro fans. While these bikes haven’t been spotted on test yet, they are a part of Royal Enfield’s roadmap for the future. We expect the Scram 450 to be launched by early 2024, while the cafe racer derivative is expected to be launched by the end of 2024.
Phew…with such plans, Royal Enfield certainly looks to exploit the 450cc platform to the fullest, while also helping it fend off competitors in the sub-500cc range, both locally and globally.
