They may be more affordable, but is it all down to visual and mechanical changes?

Royal Enfield recently launched more affordable variants of the Bullet 350 and the Bullet 350 ES. The new variants of the Bullet 350 cost Rs 1.12 lakh whereas the variants of the Bullet 350 ES have been priced at Rs 1.27 lakh, both ex-showroom Delhi. Compared to the regular variants, they are priced around Rs 9000 less. What exactly are the changes? This image gallery should help:

This is the Onyx Black colour variant of the Bullet 350. Compared to the existing black colour variants, there are a few changes.

Across all the new colour variants, the spoke rims are blacked out and the front end retains the same telescopic fork and 280mm disc brake combo. A ribbed tyre from Ceat is used up front which may not offer much grip but is inexpensive. A single-channel ABS is standard.

It gets a simple sticker instead of the chromed 3D emblem. Also, Royal Enfield has done away with the hand-painted pinstripe to save costs.

The powerplant features a dual-tone scheme. The engine head and the casing get a metallic chrome finish while the engine fins are in black. The exhaust is chromed too.

Royal Enfield has blacked out the side panels as well. All the colour variants get blacked out theme with the exception of the fuel tank. Even the indicator housings are blacked out. However, the headlight nacelle is still chromed.

The rear end gets a 153mm drum brake and there’s a wheel speed sensor as well. However, the ABS acts only on the front wheel.

The Regal Red variant is based on the Royal Enfield Bullet 350 ES. It features blacked-out fenders instead of chromed ones in the older variants.

The instrument cluster remains unchanged. You get an analogue speedometer, odometer and tell-tale lights. After Royal Enfield updated its range with ABS, the pod for the Ammeter has been replaced by an ABS warning light.

The chrome 3D logo on the fuel tank is retained. The tank is the only part of the bike which can be painted in different colours, the rest of the bike is blacked-out. There are no hand-painted pinstripes in this model either.

Gets a completely matte-black powertrain paint theme, including the engine head, fins and casing. However, the exhaust features a metallic finish. The black engine guard here is an accessory.

Interestingly, this variant of the Bullet 350 ES features traditional shock absorbers instead of gas-charged units. This also contributes to cost-saving.

Like the new variants of the Bullet 350, the new Bullet 350 ES also gets a 153mm drum brake with speed sensor at the rear. The ABS is single-channel and acts only on the front wheel.
