Royal Enfield’s flagship adventure bike may launch soon
Royal Enfield’s upcoming adventure bike, the Himalayan 450, was seen cruising the streets in Kanchipuran (Tamil Nadu), in what looks like a production-ready guise. This may not come as much of a surprise, as instances of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 being spotted testing are becoming more and more common as the days go by. And after the recent spotting of a static bike, which gave us a close glimpse of the instrument console as well, we’re even more eager to ride the bike.
To recap, however, the upcoming Himalayan 450 is the bikemaker’s first liquid-cooled bike, will likely make about 40PS and 40Nm, and could get a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. Similar to the existing Himalayan, it features an upright stance with a high-set handlebar, serrated footpegs, a split seat, and a 21-/17-inch spoke wheel setup. In terms of features, it’ll boast a host of firsts like a TFT console with smartphone connectivity and integrated turn-by-turn navigation, LED indicators and possibly traction control and cruise control.
With all this info already out in the open, and considering Royal Enfield’s promise of a new bike every quarter, we expect the launch to happen by around July-August 2023, at an ex-showroom price of about Rs 2.8 lakh. Moreover, the Himalayan 450 will also subsequently lead to a scrambler iteration, which will likely be called the Scram 450.
