The somewhat long waiting period isn’t all that surprising, considering the pricing is quite competitive, though it will go up from January 1, 2024. Also, note that these waiting periods are indicative figures, and you’ll have to head to your nearest dealership to get an idea of the exact timeline. Also, it’s important to note that the waiting period in Chennai may fluctuate owing to the ongoing flood-like situation because of cyclone Michaung.
The Himalayan 450 is now Royal Enfield’s sole ADV, with the discontinuation of the Himalayan 411, and the bike competes with other ADV offerings in the market like the KTM 390 Adventure and the upcoming Hero XPulse 400. Royal Enfield is also working on spoke wheels with tubeless tyres for the Indian market, but if you want one, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. That said, it does offer the part in the Hanle Black and Kamet White variants for the UK and select European markets.
Other than the Himalayan, Royal Enfield is working on expanding its portfolio with new models like the Shotgun 650 Twin, a bobber based on the Super Meteor 650. A custom version of this bike was showcased at Motoverse 2023. To know about the launch date, price and other details of the Shotgun 650, check out our story here.
