The fuel-injected bike was spotted at a dealership, expected price is around Rs 1.92 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)
In the wake of the BS IV switchover, Royal Enfield has discontinued its carburettor equipped Himalayan. A new fuel-injected version was on the cards and it seems it will be launched this month.
Royal Enfield has started selling the fuel-injected Himalayan overseas. One eagle eyed enthusiast has spotted the fuel-injected version at a dealership down south. Dealer sources have confirmed that test bikes are expected to reach dealerships by next week. They are accepting a booking amount of Rs 5,500 for the bike (varies from dealership to dealership). Deliveries are expected to begin as early as the first week of September.
While the fuel-injected version of the bike is cosmetically and mechanically similar to the older bike except for the addition of a fuel injection system and its associated sensors. It is also expected to come with ABS. Cosmetically, the Himalayn FI seems to get blacked-out handlebar risers and a blacked out fuel lid.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is the only entry-level Adventure Tourer available below Rs 2 lakh. It is a proper overlander with a half duplex- split cradle frame, tall seat height, and long travel suspension. It uses on-off road tyres that makes it a formidable ally in off-road trails
The bike uses a 411cc air-cooled fuel-injected single that makes 24.8PS @ 6500rpm and 32Nm @ 4250rpm and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox.
Our Mumbai dealer sources quoted the on-rod price to be around 1.92 lakh (on-road). It is Rs 7,000 more than the carburetted version, a fair increase considering the GST hike, addition of a fuel injection system and possibly ABS.
