Royal Enfield is recalling the newly-launched Himalayan over some issues with the rocker shaft and the clutch assembly. The company is replacing both the parts in the affected units of the adventure tourer for free of cost at its authorised service stations. RE is terming the exercise as a “proactive free service update” after the matter came out in the media and is claiming that the issues are non-critical. The company also said that they are running the replacement initiative to assure better customer service.

In the past few weeks, Royal Enfield Himalayan customers have been raising complaints about the noisy nature of its new 411cc OHC engine. The issue remained even after tappets adjustment, after which RE took action and found the rocker replacement as a fix to the problem. Surprisingly, no one had reported issues with the clutch assembly till now but the company is replacing that as well.

In conversation with PTI, Siddhartha Lal, managing director and CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd, said, “We have feedbacks from some customers about high engine noise. Although it doesn't affect performance we have found a solution to it. Usually, we rectify such issue in first servicing but we are asking customers to bring their bikes earlier to get it resolved.”

Besides these issues, Royal Enfield will also be addressing complaints related to the saree guard's design, and the stand touching the body.
