Royal Enfield Records 50% Sales Hike in 2015

Royal Enfield, a subsidiary of Eicher Motors, has recorded a sales growth of about 50% in 2015 from last year. The company has sold a total of 4,44,527 units this year, compared to 2,96,370 units sold in 2014. The export volume stood at 8,285 units making the overall sales number reach 4,52,812 units. Also, as a part of company’s expansion strategy, it has announced entry in the Thailand market and will soon roll-out Himalayan and one-up version (500cc) of Bullet Electra in 2016.
According to The Hindu, Royal Enfield is planning to increase its production capacity from 45,000 units to 48,000 units per month. Due to the recent floods in Chennai, RE lost production of about 11,200 units as the plants remained closed for a week. Besides two functional facilities in Chennai and surrounding areas, Royal Enfield is setting up another plant in the region for which construction will start soon. Currently, Royal Enfield India lineup consists of Bullet 350, Bullet 500, Classic 350, Classic 500, Thunderbird 350, Thunderbird 500, Bullet Electra and Continental GT.
