After appointing Pierre Terblanche as its new motorcycle designer, Royal Enfield announced an investment of Rs. 500 crore for two new technology centers. The company was rumored to introduce two new motors of 410cc and 750cc out of which the higher displacement engine has been spotted testing recently. With this mill, the manufacturer will be entering the mid-weight performance bike segment, which is already heated up with the presence of Harley Davidson Street 750 and Hyosung ST7.
The new 750cc, parallel-twin engine was found equipped to the body of Royal Enfield Continental GT that currently comes powered by a 535cc, single-cylinder motor. A healthy increase in power and torque output is expected, which not only ascends the standards of the company but also starts a new era of Royal Enfield motorcycles. Reports suggest that the mill is tuned to produce more than 50bhp of power and 60Nm of torque, which is quite exciting.
Expected to be a 750cc, DOHC, twin-carburetor engine, it might return genuine fuel efficiency besides an appreciable performance. Six-speed gearbox is going to regulate the power of the motor to the rear wheel. Moreover, it is an air-cooled mill with oil-cooler that increases its efficiency and reliability. Carburetors will keep the cost low and people will find it a better deal as twin carburetors will be handling the fuel consumption nicely.
