With a new Royal Enfield bike launch on the horizon, will we be seeing the Shotgun firing soon?
After a lull, a test mule of the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 was spied on in production-ready form, near the marque’s headquarters in Chennai. Wondering what’s new on this double-barreled Shotgun?
To begin with, it looks like the twin peashooter exhausts are all set to be slightly upswept, and the pillion grabrail design is new. Apart from this, it is likely to carry the same 300mm rear disc as seen on the Super Meteor 650. The test mule of this highly anticipated bobber is also sporting a split pillion seat, likely to be offered as an optional fitment.
The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will be the fourth product in the manufacturer’s 650cc lineup, set to shoot out familiar firepower out of the 648cc parallel twin mill, albeit with renewed attitude. We expect power outputs to remain the same 47.6PS and 52Nm as with the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. However, do not rule out the possibility of the six-speed gearbox sporting tweaked gearing.

In terms of underpinnings though, expect the Shotgun to be more inline with the Super Meteor 650, as the test mule is seen sporting an upside down front fork and twin rear shocks that aren’t gas-charged. We had also spotted a test mule loaded with accessories, which indicates that the Shotgun 650 too will get a range of accessories from Royal Enfield.
The Shotgun 650 is likely to go on sale in late 2023 and is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 3.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Its main rival will be the Kawasaki Vulcan S.
