The Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 looks quite production ready now
Update: Royal Enfield has just unveiled the Production Spec Shotgun 650. Check it out here!
Evolution is imperative, and adopting different personalities is the way to grow. Royal Enfield is the prime example of this right now with its Shotgun 650 test mule that was spied recently.
Based on the same 650cc platform as the Super Meteor 650, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650, the Shotgun 650 is a bobber, a much different flavour from the rest of its siblings. It sports lovely retro styling with circular headlight, taillight, turn indicators and more. The test mule flaunted what appears to be a floating pillion seat, likely to be offered as an accessory fitment. Oh, one can also see the twin peashooter exhausts. While the footpegs are mid set, the riding posture is a little forward biassed, thanks to the slightly lower handlebars. The bike will also be available in a single seat option.

It gets the same engine – 648cc parallel-twin air-/oil-cooled unit making 47.6PS and 52Nm in the twins. And while the underpinnings are the same as the Super Meteor 650, too, expect the motor and suspension to be slightly tweaked. The bobber features a compact engine crash guard at the front.
Expect Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 to launch sometime later this year with an expected price tag of Rs 3.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), rivalling the Kawasaki Vulcan S. The veteran bikemaker is expected to launch the 2023 Bullet 350 and Himalayan 450 this year as well.
