Scooter sales grew by 40 per cent this year

As all known that Indian two wheeler market is second largest in the world after China. There is all the domestic and international two wheeler manufacturer are providing their bikes and scooters in India. For a long time Indian two wheeler market is increasing with unexpected growth. Both bike and scooters are getting buzz response but in financial year 2010-11 scooters are one step ahead than bikes in the sales.

 

In the financial year of 2010-11 scooter sales grew by 40 per cent while bike sales increased by 27 per cent. Scooters sales is 13 per cent more than bikes which a surprise for market researchers. The gearless scooters are the first choice of Women, collage going boys-girls and old personal so they are pushing the sales of them. For example Honda Activa always leaving in waiting period of over 8 months while Hero Honda Pleasure, Mahindra Duro, Mahindra Rodeo, TVS Scooty Pep, TVS Wego and Suzuki Access are in high demand.

 

Around 19 lakh scooters were sold in last financial year and Honda Activa was on the top.  Easy to riding, handling and durability make them first choice for women, students and old personal and they are pushing the  sales of scooters in the domestic market.

 

After seen this surprising growth in scooter segment another firm India Yamaha Motor is also ready to launch its scooters in India. Yamaha to bring its scooters in India like Yamaha Alba, Yamaha Fino, Yamaha Jupiter, Yamaha Neo etc. On the other hand after crazy demand Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is mulling over to increase is scooter production capacity.
