Suzuki’s TVS NTorq 125 rival will be launched tomorrow

Suzuki recently revealed a teaser of its upcoming scooter, scheduled to be launched tomorrow. Surprisingly, it’s not the Suzuki Burgman Electric as we’d thought earlier. Instead, it’s something else altogether. Here’s what to expect from the sporty scooter:
A snazzy, aggressive design:
Going by the teaser, it is evident that the upcoming 125cc Suzuki scooter is intended for the younger audiences. The scooter sports an LED headlight, sharp creases on the apron, an angular headlight cowl with a small flyscreen and integrated bulb indicators. The rear is definitely reminiscent of the TVS NTorq 125, but it gets split LED taillights instead of a singular unit in the NTorq. It also gets a sporty, stubby exhaust that’s identical to the one on the Burgman Street, and a funky colour scheme overall.
Could be feature-packed:
The upcoming sporty Suzuki 125cc scooter will be equipped with the same full-LCD instrument cluster as the Burgman Street. Expect it to have smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation as the connected variant of the Burgman Street. Oh, and there’s an engine kill switch too.

It could also get an apron-mounted USB charging port with cubby holes like the Burgman. Expect the underseat storage to be as large as the Burgman or the Access 125, i.e., 21.5 litres.
Might share its heart with the Burgman Street:
Representative Image
Considering it’s a sporty scooter with several aesthetic elements borrowed from the Burgman Street, it is possible that the scooter will also borrow the maxi-style scooter’s 124cc 8.7PS/ 10Nm air-cooled engine. It’s less likely to be a 110cc scooter as Suzuki will have to develop the engine from the ground up.
Moreover, prospective customers are slowly moving towards the 125cc segment as it offers more performance and better features than the 110cc Honda Activa-dominated space. The Suzuki Access 125 is already the highest-selling 125cc scooter in the country, and it would be prudent for the Japanese bikemaker to dabble in this space, rather than entering a gradually fading 110cc segment.
Expected price and rivals:
The connected variants of the Suzuki Access 125 and the Suzuki Burgman Street are priced at Rs 83,600 and Rs 89,600 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The upcoming sporty scooter could be positioned between the two scooters, presumably at around Rs 85,000 (ex-showroom).
It will go up against the TVS NTorq 125, the recently launched 2021 Aprilia SR 125, Honda Grazia 125, and Yamaha RayZR 125.
