Suzuki unveiled four new products at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo but sadly, they were just updates of their existing lineup. The production ready images of the Gixxer 250 that went viral over the internet a few days before the Expo made the Indian auto nuts believe that the company might be showcasing the bike at the biennial event. Some of them even believed that the bike will be hitting Indian shores soon. However, this is not true as a reliable source at Suzuki recently informed us that the 250cc Gixxer is not meant for India, at least for now. The bike was spotted a few months back at a production facility in Japan.
As per reports, Suzuki Gixxer 250 is powered by a 250cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine that has been linked to a six-speed transmission. The fuel injected motor puts out a maximum power of around 26-28bhp of power with an estimated 23-25Nm of torque. For responsive and safe braking, the bike has been equipped with dual disc brakes with an ABS, at least as an option. The styling has been revamped a lot from the 150cc version and the new bike features chrome plated brake and clutch levers along with a more aggressive front end.
The news might put a lot of Indian buyers to disappointment. However, the company might launch the bike in India in a few years from now when it feels the necessity to do so. Till then, if you are planning to buy a 250cc machine, the already available options in the country like the Pulsar 220 and Karizma are good enough to suit your taste.
