Motorcycle enthusiasts have gone into a tizzy ever since the first images of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 surfaced on the internet. The race-ready styling, and quoted power figures of this machine have made many anticipate its launch, possibly at the Auto Expo. The spy images which we displayed earlier had raised speculation about this bike being the Gixxer 250 or GSX-R 250.
The bike may carry forward the same 100/80 and 140/60 section front and rear tyre setup, respectively, from the 155cc Gixxer SF. The 250cc bike might also come equipped with with dual disc brakes at the front, and could also get optional Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS). The company has worked on the styling, as a bigger and sharper headlamp design is seen in the pictures, as well as a redesigned fuel tank.
The upcoming Gixxer 250 will be powered by a 250cc, air-cooled, four-stroke engine that will come mated to a six-speed transmission. The motor is expected to generate power somewhere between 26-28bhp with an estimated 23-25Nm of torque. The suspension setup seems to have been slightly revised with the same telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
Earlier it was spotted at a production facility in Japan and if those images are to be believed, the company has finalized its design and is no longer just a concept. The spy shots available are of a production-ready bike and might very well be the motorcycle that will hit Indian shores without any changes. The design of the Suzuki Gixxer 250 is inspired from its elder sibling the GSX-R 750.
Production, pricing and detailed specifications of the Gixxer 250 remain a mystery so far, but expect to see updates on these from us as the Expo draws closer. As the Indian motorcycle industry gears up for the Auto Expo to be held in Delhi from 5th to 9th February, we look forward to many Indian manufacturers displaying their future models, while foreign giants are expected to unveil some interesting design concepts at the event. As confirmed earlier, we will provide exclusive pictures of the all new Suzuki Gixxer 250 live from the Expo. Not only this, BikeDekho.com will also provide regular updates about all the models being showcased at this much-awaited event.
