After being in news for a long time, the faired version of the Suzuki Gixxer has been finally spotted testing in Delhi. It seems that the company will launch this new machine as their new flagship model in India after the discontinuation of the Inazuma in coming months.
The faired bike is completely based on the Suzuki Gixxer. In pictures, you can see that all the aesthetics are identical to the naked sport version, in fact the headlight seems exactly similar. However, it gets a full body front fairing, which is looking inspired by the GSX-R series. It will also share the mechanical components like brakes and suspension set-up with the Gixxer.
Propelling the bike will be same 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled SEP engine mated to a 5-speed transmission, which also powers the Gixxer. Fuel system is also expected to be the same carburetor type, due to the cost barrier. The motor churns out 14.6bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of the 14Nm at 6,000rpm. The power to weight ratio of the bike will definitely reduce due to the fairing, however, the improved aerodynamics will negotiate with it.
The Faired Suzuki Gixer will be portioned in the upper category of the premium commuters and compete with the bikes like Yamaha Fazer. Price of the bike will be around Rs. 10,000 extra to the Gixxer's, costing around Rs. 86,000.
