Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Suzuki has unveiled the BS6 Gixxer 250 SF at Auto Expo 2020. Unfortunately, apart from an updated motor, the bike remains visually unchanged. However, if you’d still like to get it, you can go ahead and reserve one at Suzuki's very own display booth or at any authorised dealership. Expect a minor price hike of around Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 over the BS4 Gixxer SF 250, which retails at Rs 171,456 (ex-showroom Delhi)
The bike draws power from a 249cc, fuel-injected single-cylinder engine with oil-cooling. That said, Suzuki has tinkered with the engine to comply with BS6 emissions. The result is a power output of 26.5PS (same as before) at 9300rpm and 22.2Nm of peak torque at 7300rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The BS4 Gixxer 250 SF produces the same power, however, at 300rpm lower. It also produces 0.4Nm more torque at 7500rpm.
The bikes hardware hasn’t been altered either. It uses the same telescopic fork and monoshock with disc brakes at both ends offering anchorage. Dual-channel ABS comes as standard. Its 17-inch wheels come wrapped in 110/70-section front and 150/60-section rear radial tyres. The BS6 Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 positions itself smack in between its rivals, the Yamaha Fazer25 and Honda CBR250R.
