Suzuki Unveils V-Strom 650XT BS6 At Auto Expo
- The BS6 V-Strom 650XT hasn’t received any cosmetic updates.
- Performance is likely to remain unchanged.
- The current BS4 model is priced at Rs 7.45 lakh
Suzuki Motorcycle has taken the wraps off the BS6 V-Strom 650XT at Auto Expo 2020. Though the bike gets a future-proof engine, it misses out on cosmetic updates, which would have upped its style quotient for 2020. The mid-displacement ADV is expected to be launched in India by April 2020 when BS6 emission norms kick in.
It continues to be powered by a 645cc, liquid-cooled, V-Twin engine tuned to comply with BS6 emissions. Unfortunately, there are no power figures to swear by. However, the updates to the engine shouldn't make much of a difference to the bike’s performance. So we could expect power output to be around the same as the BS4 model -- 71PS at 8800rpm and 62.3Nm of torque at 6500rpm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of electronic rider aids, the bike gets three levels of switchable traction control and dual-channel ABS as standard. The settings can be altered to suit the rider via the bike’s analogue-digital instrument console.

Since the XT inclines more towards off-road use, it gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear aluminium rims with stainless steel wire spokes. The wheels come wrapped in tubeless Bridgestone Battlax dual-purpose tyres, knuckle guards, and a belly pan.
Its suspension setup consists of a 43mm telescopic fork with 150mm of travel and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability. The bike is anchored by twin disc brakes up front and a single Nissin disc at the rear coupled with dual-channel ABS.
The Versys 650 XT competes against the Kawasaki Versys 650 (Rs 6.69 lakh) and the SWM SuperDual T.
