What could be more heavenly to a biker than a group ride to beautiful mountains of Kashmir, and to think of the hot, the summer the North Indians are facing! Today, the 9th Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey was signaled off, early in the morning by Dr. Venki Padmanabhan, who is the CEO Royal Enfield. The journey started from India Gate, New Delhi at around 4 in the morning, when they asked the Buddhist monks for blessings. The presence of a total of 67 riders, from all over India and a few from the abroad, was noticed. All these riders have set on a 16-day fun and leisure trip to cover around 2700 kilometers. They start from Delhi and finish at Khardung La, covering Spiti Valley and Rohtang pass while riding back to their base in Delhi. To make you feel a bit more jealous, here we tell you, on their way to Leh, these riders cover Narkhanda, Keylong, Sarchu, along with crossing the supposed toughest terrain of the world, the Kaza region. Goose bumps, eh?
As per their itinerary, the riders will take a relaxing break for a day and then once again start on the journey to experience the sand dunes at a high altitude, the icy cold sand dunes of Hunder, before heading towards Delhi via Leh, Manali, Chandigarh, thus ending the enticement on 8 July 2012. Announcing the start of the journey, Mr. Dr. Venki Padmanabhan said that the company felt honored to have been chosen by the “band of riders”, to carry on the journey on their Royal Enfield bikes. He felt “not just honored but deeply touched” too!
Being one of the oldest adventure-related biking events of the country, the minutest thing is taken care of here, even though the most challenging it is. As a rule, whatever journey The Royal Enfield Himalayan Odyssey is not just a journey, but also a complete achievement for those who undertake it. The challenge comes in the form of difficult terrains, difficult climate, etc., testing mental and physical stability. Any such journey has the capability to mature up a man, or bring out the child hidden inside him. Like they say, “Himalayan Odyssey - The road may end, but the journey lives on.” However, to make the journey extremely smooth for the riders, RE gives proper medical aid throughout the journey, consistently. The mere presence there, listening to the thumping of the machines, the Royal Enfield bikes thumped the hearts of the viewers. Or was it a hidden wish inside them to join them that created the thunders?
