Chinese bikemaker Colove Motorcycles is all set to launch a retro roadster model as well
From the densely populated two-wheeler market of China, Colove Motorcycles is working on two new neo-retro motorcycles based on their 321F platform. According to the type approval applications in China, the latest addition to Colove’s lineup will be a naked model and a semi-faired model.
Both the bikes flaunt the same unique design which makes them stand out from the host of neo-retro motorcycles. The boxy LED headlight setup, in particular, is intriguing and presents a modern look with touches of retro looks. Additionally, the bike features boxy body panels with a slightly muscular fuel tank and a rather clean split seat setup. The brown leather seat really adds to the clean and minimalistic appeal. The semi-faired model gets a sharp-looking front cowl that gives it a complete cafe racer look, which is complemented by tucked (more committed) riding stance, raised clip on handlebar with circular rear view mirrors and wire spoked rims. The naked bike gets an upright riding stance and cast alloys.
Propelling these bikes will be Colove’s 322cc twin-cylinder engine producing around 41.5PS and 28.47Nm. The engine performance is quite similar to the Yamaha YZF-R3 and MT-03. The performance figures like top speed are not known yet: however, these numbers, coupled with a kerb weight of just 148kg (naked) and 149kg (faired), sounds like a recipe for a good power-to-weight ratio, better than the MT-03.
From what can be seen in the images, the bikes are suspended on a USD fork up front and monoshock at the rear. The bikes feature a single-sided swingarm, not something you come across often on a small-capacity bike. Anchoring the bike is a 320mm disc up front and a 240mm disc brake at the rear. Furthermore, the bikes roll on 17-inch wheels and get 110/70 rubbers up front and 150/60 at the rear.
The prices for the neo-retro 321Fs haven’t been revealed yet; however, these bikes will not be heading to our shores anytime soon. If you are an enthusiast looking for a cafe racer here in India, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is the most affordable option, and if a retro roadster is what you admire then you can check out the Honda CB300R.
