The Fushan MT is available in 150cc, 200cc and 250cc versions

The Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0 is no longer just popular in our market, but also seems to have caught the fancy of Chinese manufacturers. Foshan Muci Motorcycle Co. Ltd has introduced its version of the Japanese streetfighter, and can be had for almost half the price of the original bike.

Simply known as “MT”, this bike looks like a toned down version of the Yamaha MT-15. While the fascia of the clone is very close to Yamaha’s design, the thick “brow” LED DRLs spoil the mean look of the original. Even the fuel tank and the extension are designed in a similar way, which look like the original MT-15, but now look more suited for a commuter. In fact, the long and wide seat of the Chinese MT appears to be inspired from the FZ range of motorcycles, and actually could be more comfortable and accommodating than the short seat of the Yammie.

Interestingly, the bike can be ordered in 150cc, 200cc or a 250cc avatar. And while the Yamaha MT-15 V2 uses a liquid-cooled motor, the Chinese bike gets air-cooled motors only. The 150cc engine of the Foshan MT-15 makes 11.55PS and 11.5Nm while the 200cc mill churns out 13.04PS and 13.6Nm. Its top-of-the-line 250cc engine only manages to put out 17PS and 16.5Nm. For reference, the Yamaha MT-15 V2 produces 18.4PS and 14.1Nm.

The underpinnings of the Chinese MT-15 are very identical to the original bike. It runs on 17-inch rims at both ends, with disc brakes at both ends taking up braking duties while a USD fork and monoshock setup handles the suspension department.

The Chinese manufacturer hasn’t revealed any features of the motorcycle. However, from what we can see, this bike gets a LCD instrument console, and doesn’t have the safety net of ABS.

Foshan Muci Motorcycle has priced its MT at an equivalent of Rs 56,904 to Rs 68,597, depending on the engine you opt for. That’s almost Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0. Let us know what’s your take on this Chinese MT-15 in the comments.
