Heavily modified engine, Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes -- the GT650RS has it all
Having teamed up with Royal Enfield, South Korean custom house CrazyGarage has come up with an insanely modified Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, called the GT650RS. In the video, Kim Chi-hyun, founder of the custom house, says he was inspired by the AMA Superbike races (for naked bikes) from the 1980s for this build. With this motorcycle, Kim intends to participate in the Retro Race Trophy time trial event at the Korea International Circuit this year. Drool over the exhaust note and other details in this short video:
Coming back to the motorcycle, Kim has modified the engine heavily with parts from S&S Cycle. We’re talking about high-compression pistons increasing the ratio from 9.5:1 to 11:1, aftermarket cam and clutch, and a Dynojet Power Commander ECU tuned to match the custom race-spec exhaust system. The 6-speed transmission is enhanced by a Dynojet quickshifter and a quick throttle fitted onto the lowered, clip-on handlebars. To ensure better thermal efficiency, the oil cooler has been repositioned to the headlight area, with a small offset halogen headlamp sitting atop.
To go with all that extra firepower, Kim has used a custom 43mm Ohlins inverted front fork and an Ohlins TTX rear monoshock, both adjustable. The stock brakes have been replaced with fiercer Brembo twin discs (with axial calipers), aftermarket brake lines, and a pair of custom carbon-fibre air ducts up front for enhanced cooling. There’s no ABS as it is a track-focused machine.
Completing the setup are the single-sided swingarm borrowed from the ’90s’ Honda VFR400R and a pair of 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels from Marchesini, wrapped in Metzeler Racetec RR rubber for optimum grip. Other additions include a lightweight lithium-ion battery, an aftermarket tachometer with an LCD temperature gauge, and dedicated switchgear for changing the ignition mapping.

Another interesting aspect of this custom build is the bespoke fuel tank. Kim says making this was one of the most memorable parts of the process. He fabricated a custom 9-litre fuel tank and mounted it below the seat for better weight distribution. He then made another custom tank (likely for cosmetic purposes) where the original one was located.
This is by far one of the most purposeful, extreme builds we’ve ever seen based on the Continental GT 650. We hope the motorcycle helps Kim perform outstandingly at the time trial event!
