The Dispatch EV scooter is purely built for the commercial space

The electric two-wheeler space witnesses the arrival of a new market player, Dispatch. While many manufacturers are looking to tap into the personal mobility space, Dispatch is focused on the commercial segment with its eponymous scooter that it hopes will speed up last-mile delivery services. The Dispatch electric scooter will not only be used for deliveries but also ride sharing services.

The folks at Dispatch have managed to study the needs of the B2B sector well and built a truly modular scooter. For example, a scooter designed for getting out deliveries for Amazon, Flipkart, and other such online retailers would be very different from a scooter that ride sharing providers such as Ola and Uber would use. The beauty of the Dispatch scooter is that it will use nearly 90 percent of the same components, leaving items like the storage box, pillion seat and other such stuff, up to the requirement of the client.

Even though it looks minimalistic, it isn’t skimping on modern features. It gets LED lighting and a full-digital negative-LCD dash. While both these features are getting pretty common on two-wheelers nowadays, the unique bit of the Dispatch electric scooter is the removable 4G LTE-enabled Android tablet.

With this device in place, clients who source the scooters from Dispatch will be able to make the lives of their delivery personnel simpler as there will be no need to constantly remove mobile phones on the go. The large screen will also improve navigation, speeding up delivery times. The tablet is likely to last a whole working day and there’s wireless charging just in case you need some juice. Plus, it is encased in what is likely to be a waterproof compartment.

Aside from the design, the modular platform also allows flexibility in performance and battery infrastructure. There will be three performance versions with varying top speeds of 45kmph, 60kmph and 86kmph.

Accordingly, the range on offer will vary from 200km for the slow speed model to 120km for the most powerful version. But that is if both of the removable batteries are fully charged. Technically, you could run the scooter on just a single battery but in that case, there will be some compromise on the range front.

Dispatch will release further details on the battery swap tech and the cost for the services once the scooter goes into production early next year.
