The recent odd-even experiment and ban on a few diesel vehicles in National Capital Region (NCR) have suddenly raised concerns among the automakers and many of them have started working on green or environment-friendly products. On these lines, Honda has come up with the EV-Cub Concept at the ongoing Auto Expo in Greater Noida. This concept is an amazing last mile connectivity solution which is designed to reduce air pollution.
Now it is a well-known fact that electric vehicles are the best option to combat pollution and many automotive brands are planning to come up with their own electric vehicles. Though currently the consumers are not so keen on buying the electric vehicles but once there will be awareness, sales of these vehicles are sure to increase. That is why Honda is working on this EV-Cub Concept which is a great option for short distance commuting and is expected to fit the bill of the old Super Cub scooter.
Coming to the design, EV-Cub can be termed as a retro-styled, simple scooter. It is single-seater with some extra space at the rear for luggage. For easy handling, the battery is kept at the centre of the scooter that too at the lowest possible position which helps in proper weight distribution. The battery powering this electric EV-Cub can be charged from any household socket with the cable that is offered along with the battery. The space between the rider’s feet on this scooter can also be used for carrying luggage. Mainly designed for short distance commuting it can be a useful option for going to the nearby grocery stores etc and as it runs on an electric motor, it is quite an economical option.
Though it is still in the concept phase but we hope that Honda soon decides to make it ready for production as this EV-Cub seems to be designed keeping multiple things in mind. Experts are confident that if launched in India this product has the potential of being an overnight success considering a majority of the population uses two-wheelers for short commute only.
