Hero thrashes the competition by selling nearly 1.5 times the second on the list
India is the largest two-wheeler market in the world and most of its sales come from humble commuters like the Hero Splendor and Honda Activa which manage to rake in lakhs of numbers month after month. The sales numbers for May 2022 are out and here are the top five best-selling bikemakers:
With a market share of 35.8 percent for two-wheelers, Hero MotoCorp sees the biggest, 17 percent increase in sales when compared to April 2022. Next in the list of top two-wheeler manufacturers is Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, with a market share of 26.48 percent. The Japanese giant witnessed a 0.6 percent increase in its two-wheeler sales from last month. Despite inflation and other economic factors, the two companies managed to sell high numbers. One of the reasons is that Hero’s best-selling products are affordable and most of the sales for Honda come from the tried-and-tested Activa range.
Following the Japanese company is the second Indian company: TVS. Enjoying a market share of 15.4 percent, the Hosur-based manufacturer witnessed a 6 percent increase in sales. With a market share of 7.84 percent, Bajaj Auto is the fourth largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India and its sales increased by 3 percent over the past month. The second Japanese in the list, Suzuki, has a market share of 4.75 percent. With a healthy 11 percent increase in sales as compared to April 2022, the company grabbed the fifth spot in the list.
Compared to the figures of the last month, the overall order and manufacturers are the same. Royal Enfield tails Suzuki with 53,525 units sold for May 2022. In a related development, we got to know about the Royal Enfield Hunter 350’s launch timeline. You can read more about it here. If the Chennai-based manufacturer is able to launch the bike soon, it could claw its way back to the fifth spot.
