The standard and the R variant of the Tork Kratos come with their own set of features. Here’s where they differ
Tork has finally launched its much-awaited electric motorcycle in two variants: Kratos and Kratos R. Both are loaded with features, so we are here to answer the question – Which variant should you buy?
In terms of styling and design, both the Tork Kratos and Kratos R are the same, with the exception of colour options. The Kratos R gets four paint schemes to choose from – white, black, blue and red – and these colours certainly look good. Whereas the Kratos comes only with the white paint scheme.
Both the variants of the bike get a conventional telescopic fork and a monoshock suspension setup, with front and rear disc brakes with CBS and regenerative braking. The bike features a split seat setup and a split trellis frame.
The battery pack on both the variants is the same 4kWh lithium-ion unit and offers a range of 180 km IDC (Indian driving cycle), and a claimed real-world range of 120km. The bike comes paired to the axial flux motor made in-house by Tork.
Now where the actual meat of the matter lies is the performance. The standard Kratos produces 7.5kW of peak power and 28Nm at the motor. The e-bike comes with a claimed top speed of 100kmph, and accelerates from 0-40kmph in 4 seconds. On the other hand, the R variant produces 9kW of peak power and 38Nm at the motor. Consequently, it also gets a slightly higher top speed of 105kmph and achieves 0-40kmph in just 3.5 seconds. Enthusiasts looking for performance will certainly appreciate the R variant.

Now there is no doubt that this electric motorcycle is feature-packed, and the company has loaded both variants with all the goodies. The e-bike features an LED headlight setup with DRLs, a fully digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity, navigation (in the smartphone app) and a USB charging port, all the must-haves on a modern-day two-wheeler. But that isn’t all, the bike also comes with an anti-theft system, safe home feature, crash alert, ride analytics and OTA updates, regenerative braking and reverse assist.
In addition to that, the Kratos R also features a dedicated track mode (standard variant gets Eco, City and Sports modes) along with track mode analytics. It also gets other useful features including Motor Walk Assist, smart analytics and more importantly, fast charging capability that charges the bike to 80 percent in just 60 minutes. While the standard charger will take 4-5 hours to fully charge the battery, which isn’t too shabby either.
Another major advantage the Kratos R variant offers is that owners will be able to enjoy free access to Tork’s charging network for two years.
The Kratos is priced at Rs 1,32,499 and is Rs 15,000 less than the Kratos R, which is priced at Rs 1,47,499 (both ex-showroom Pune, including FAME II subsidies). The final prices will be even lower with the respective state subsidies applied.
All in all, we’d recommend the Kratos R variant as it offers useful features such as fast charging capability, along with extra performance. One will also be able to save even more thanks to the free access of the company’s charging infrastructure. Overall, the Rs 15,000 premium over the standard seems to be fair for what the R variant offers, at least on paper.
