The British two-wheeler manufacturer - Triumph Motorcycle has removed the Speed Triple from its Indian website. The step from one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers hints towards the discontinuation of the bike in the country. With the approaching Auto Expo, Triumph might showcase the heavily updated Speed Triple and this could be the reason why the it has chosen to cut its supply in India.
Triumph had already unveiled the 2016 Speed Triple in two variants viz. Speed Triple S and Speed Triple R at the 73rd EICMA last year. Out of the two, the Speed Triple R is punchier and performance oriented one. As per the company claims, the Speed Triple R is a whopping 104 ways different from its preceding model. The new model draws its power from a 1,050cc, inline three-cylinder engine that comes mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine churns out a maximum power of 140bhp along with 112Nm of peak torque. With this, the manufacturer also claims a 10 percent more torque along with a 10 percent increase in fuel economy. The 2016 Speed Triple has been equipped with ride-by-wire, slipper clutch and a new exhaust setup.
Talking of cosmetic updates, the 2016 model sees new seats, restyled headlamps with DRLs and a sleek body. Reportedly, Triumph is most likely to showcase three motorcycles viz. Street Twin, Bonneville T120 and 2016 Thruxton at the Auto Expo. Expected to be bigger, better and more exciting, the 13th edition of the country’s motor show will witness the unveiling of 80 new vehicles. Stay tuned to BikeDekho for latest bike updates!
