The British manufacturer unveiled four new variants in its Bonneville range

EICMA 2019 is finally underway, and we kick things off with Triumph. The British manufacturer has unveiled four new variants within its Bonneville range for next year at its press conference in Milan. These variants are spread across the Thruxton, T100, T120 and Bobber models, so let’s dive in and take a closer look at each one.

Triumph Bonneville Bobber TFC

The Bonneville Bobber is the latest model to get the Triumph Factory Custom treatment. This will be a limited-edition variant, with only 750 units being produced worldwide. These fortunate few owners will get engine output that’s higher by 10PS and 4Nm, courtesy of a motor that revs 500rpm higher. This engine will exhale through a special Arrow exhaust system with carbon-fibre end caps for added oomph. The bump up in power is also accompanied by a reduction in weight, with the TFC being about 5kg lighter than the Bobber Black.

Underpinnings have also been enhanced, with the TFC getting fully adjustable suspension at both ends courtesy of Ohlins. Italian specialist Brembo lends its expertise in the braking department with M50 monobloc calipers and an MCS radial-master cylinder. To help it stand out, the TFC also gets carbon-fibre body panels, a genuine leather seat and anodised wheels.

Unfortunately, though the Bobber TFC is beautiful to look at, it is a Euro 4-compliant model and hence will not make its way to India.

Triumph Thruxton RS

The sportiest model in the Bonneville range now packs even more punch in this RS variant. An extra 8PS has been squeezed out of the 1200cc motor, with total output now standing at 105PS. Peak torque continues to be 112Nm but is now delivered 700rpm earlier than before. The rotational inertia of the engine has been reduced by 20 per cent, resulting in a more responsive motor.

The Thruxton has also been on a diet, with this RS version now 6kg lighter than before. This has been achieved courtesy of lighter engine components and a lighter battery. To deal with all this extra performance, the cycle parts have been uprated as well. The RS gets M50 monobloc calipers from Brembo and sticky Racetec RR rubber from Metzeler.

In terms of appearance, the Thruxton RS is a little darker than the R variant, getting black powder-coated engine covers and shock springs. The wheels and swingarm have also received the black treatment. Being the only Euro 5 bike shown by Triumph at EICMA, there is a chance that this variant could make it to India next year.

T100 & T120 Bud Ekins Special Editions

The last two motorcycles on this list are special editions of the T100 and T120 retro models. These are a tribute to legendary American stuntman Bud Ekins, and they feature cosmetic differences to the standard models. Both get unique two-tone paint schemes with California ‘flying globe’ Bud Ekins logos on the tank, front mudguard and side panels.

There are no mechanical changes, which means they continue to be Euro 4-compliant models. As a result of this, neither of them will be making their way to India.
