[Update: TVS Apache RR 310 BS6 Launched, Gets Rider Modes!]
TVS has confirmed that it will be launching the BS6 version of its flagship motorcycle, the Apache RR 310, on January 30. The current bike is also fuel-injected and hence BS6-ready, so it shouldn't be too much of a task for TVS to make it BS6-compliant. The smaller 4V Apaches were updated to meet BS6 norms recently and they both suffered a drop in engine output. We hope TVS can work some magic with the 310 and at least maintain the same output as the current bike, but it is possible that the BS6 motor could lose a bit of poke. For reference, the current-gen RR 310 puts out 34PS and 27.3Nm.
We've spotted the bike testing recently so we can tell you that aside from updates to the engine, TVS will also be making a few other changes. A cutting-edge full-colour TFT screen will be thrown in and this is expected to feature Bluetooth connectivity as well. Some new dual-tone colour schemes will also be offered with the BS6 bike. While the RR is currently offered with Michelin Pilot Street radial tyres, the test bike spotted featured some new rubber. We think this might be from TVS itself.
With all these updates, expect a price hike in the range of Rs 15,000 over the current model, which sells for Rs 2.28 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Once launched on January 30, it will be the only BS6-compliant motorcycle in this price and displacement range, going up against the likes of the yet-to-be-updated KTM RC 390.
