(UPDATE: TVS has launched the Apache RTR 165 RP in India. Head here to read the launch story.)
After breaking the story in September 2021, we have come to know that TVS has finally gotten trademark approval for the ‘Apache RTR 165 RP’ and ‘RP Race Performance’ names. We believe the latter will spawn TVS’ performance division, much like Mercedes’ AMG or BMW’s M-division, and the first bike launched from this sub-brand could be the RTR 165.

Ardent followers of the Indian national two-wheeler racing championship know the superiority of the race-spec Apache RTR 165, which has won numerous national titles. By using the RTR 160 2V as a base, TVS’s racing division has bored out the mill to the maximum permissible limit that the regulations allow and extract loads of performance. However, for the RTR 165 RP, we think the stock RTR 160 4V would serve better.
The list of changes that TVS could incorporate would range from engine tunes to suspension upgrades to even sportier ergonomics. Here’s a detailed explanation of what’s possible.
We hope to see some form of announcement from TVS on the same in the coming few months.
