The RTR 165 RP costs about Rs 7,000 more than the top-spec RTR 200 4V
TVS kicked off the Racing Performance series with the launch of the Apache RTR 165 RP as the first offering. It borrows quite some mechanicals from the road-going Apache bloodline. Not just that, it also costs more than the Apache RTR 200 4V. But just how do the two bikes fare? Let’s find out through these detailed images.
The TVS Apache RTR 165 RP gets the same updated LED headlight with the central LED DRL as the Apache RTR 200 4V does from its recent update. However, the RTR 165 RP gets a rad paint scheme of red, blue and white with the TVS RacIng livery all over.

TVS has plonked in a 164.9cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor (a rebored version of the RTR 160 4V’s mill) that dishes out 19.2PS and 14.2Nm for the RTR 165 RP. Meanwhile, the Apache RTR 200 4V is powered by a 197.75cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor that makes 20.82PS and 17.25Nm in sports mode and 17.32PS and 16.51Nm in urban/rain mode. Both bikes get a 5-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
TVS has also thrown in a brass chain and sprocket kit on the RTR 165 RP, similar to the unit you see on the RR 310 BTO.
Both bikes get adjustable clutch and brake levers.
On the features front, the Apache RTR 165 RP gets a fully digital instrument cluster sans the connectivity options whereas the RTR 200 4V gets the TVS SmartXConnect. It gives you access to navigation, call/SMS alerts and crash alert as well.
Both bikes use a conventional telescopic front fork and monoshock setup. But the one on the RTR 200 4V is a first-in-segment preload-adjustable Showa unit.
Braking hardware on both bikes comprises a 270mm front and a 240mm rear disc. Dual-channel ABS is standard on the RTR 200 while the 165 RP gets a single channel unit.
Even the wheel and tyre sizes for the two bikes are the same – 17-inch alloys wrapped in TVS Eurogrip ProtorQ SP Race spec rubber.
TVS has priced the Apache RTR 165 RP at Rs 1.45 lakh and limited the production to just 200 units. On the other hand, the Apache RTR 200 4V retails at Rs 1.33 lakh for the single-disc model and Rs 1.38 lakh for the dual-disc version (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). Nevertheless, considering the price and equipment on offer, we think the Apache RTR 200 4V makes for a more sensible purchase.
