TVS Motor Company has announced the launch of two limited edition variants of its HLX series commuter motorcycles in the African two-wheeler market. These bikes, called the HLX 125 Gold and the HLX 150 Gold, are produced to commemorate the company’s milestone of having sold 2 million units of the motorcycle in the global market and also comes with a couple of first-in-segment features.
These two limited edition models come with an all-new Starlight Blue shade with a Burgundy coloured seat and are adorned with a fresh Kenya-inspired graphic on their fuel tanks as well as the side covers. This is also complemented by a first-in-class gold themed front and back suspension along with a 3D logo of TVS on the tank.
The models will also get a segment-first ‘Smart Lock’, an anti-theft security feature using the key fob to further enhance security. Additional convenience features include USB charging, hazard lights and even a gear position indicator. A telematics device can also be equipped as an optional extra.
Since this is mostly a cosmetic update, the HLX will be available with the same 125cc engine (outputting 10.8PS of power and 10.8Nm of torque) mated to a 4-speed gearbox. It will also be available in a 150cc variant with a 5-speed gearbox.
Since its debut in 2013, the HLX series has been the staple for use as commercial and delivery vehicles in the African market. TVS has cited this particular reason as to why it has launched these celebratory new limited editions models.
