Recently, two test mules of TVS Jupiter were spotted in Coimbatore with front disc brake and fuel-injection system. The scooters were seen equipped with O2 sensors and didn’t have a choke that comes associated with the carburetor, which gave the signals of Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI).
With the growing scooter segment, TVS does not seem behind in terms of technology and seeing the test mules in public hints at it is in final stages of production. Though we are not sure whether there is a new Jupiter on its way or the company is testing the technology on its existing units. The current model of this scooter comprises of a 109.7cc air-cooled engine that generates 8bhp and 8Nm of torque and if it comes with EFI, it could possibly add more power, throttle response and cold start to its list of features.
If TVS will offer Jupiter with EFI technology, it would be the first scooter 100cc-110cc scooter to have such an advanced variant and the company will become the first automaker to manufacture such a machine. Let’s wait for the official announcement from TVS and see if it helps the company in improving the sales figures or not. If it comes and becomes successful, TVS might use the technology in its various other models that are powered by the same motor.
