Racy or classy, which TVS scooter should you go for?
It was teased a couple of days ago and today, TVS has finally taken the wraps off the NTorq 125 Race Edition. The new edition gets an LED headlamp as well as a T-shaped LED DRL which adds to the scooter’s racy appeal. Afterall, this is the only scooter from the company to wear the TVS Racing moniker. The ‘Race Edition’ is priced at Rs 62,995 (ex-showroom Delhi), which makes it just Rs 649 more than the recently launched TVS Jupiter Grande. Thus, the question that begs to be answered is which one suits you the best?
Who Is The NTorq 125 Race Edition For?
The NTorq 125 has always been the scooter for the youth or for the young at heart. Zipping through traffic is effortless with enough grunt from its 124.79cc single cylinder mill is enough to put a wide grin on your face. The ride is definitely on the sportier side but it never feels crashy or stiff unlike other sporty 125cc scooters. Plus, the SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity feature on board is not found on any scooter outside the TVS brand in India, making it quite unique and attractive to the millennial buyer. No wonder then that it has sold over 4 lakh units since its launch in 2018, majority of the owners belonging to the younger end of the age spectrum.
With the ‘Race Edition,’ TVS has improved the NTorq 125 in a few areas, the key area being the illumination department. The stock conventional bulb setup did a decent job of lighting up the road. However, for the Insta-focused generation the LED DRLs would look kewl or “Boht hard.” Plus, one can never go wrong with the colour combination of black and red.
Who Is The Jupiter Grande For?
TVS’s Jupiter range is its matured range of family scooters that are easy to ride, comfortable and offer a premium ownership experience. We have loved most of the updates that TVS brings to the Jupiter range, like it did with the MillionR edition or the Classic edition. However, the top-of-the-line in the Jupiter series has to be the Grande.
TVS had discontinued the Grande edition a few months ago but it brought back the variant last week. To know what makes the Grande special, why not check out this link here. However, the Grande now offers customers a limited but similar Bluetooth connectivity feature like the NTorq 125. It ups the ante when it comes to being classy with a brilliant ‘Tech Blue’ colour. Add to that the beige interior panels and tan quilted seat cover and this Grande looks exquisite.
Which one makes the most sense?
Paying Rs 649 more and buying a 125cc scooter seems like a no-brainer. You are getting a more feature rich package with the NTorq 125 Race Edition. Plus, the peppy performance and sporty looks are sure to win you over. However, the Jupiter Grande is more fuel efficient than the NTorq 125, scores high on practicality and still manages to look cool. Picking between one of these is difficult but whichever one you decide on buying, the decision is going to be a great one.
