TVS NTorq 125 Spiderman Edition vs Yamaha NMax 160 Spiderman Edition: Photo Comparison

TVS and Yamaha have perfectly capitalised on the new Spiderman movie: No Way Home, and here’s a closer look at the Spidey-themed scoots: 

Marvel Studios recently released the latest instalment of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Capitalising on this trend, TVS recently launched the Spiderman and Thor-themed versions of the NTorq 125 SuperSquad Edition in India. Interestingly, Yamaha Brazil also has a Spidey-themed maxiscooter in the form of the Yamaha NMax 160 Homem-Aranha, which translates to Spider-Man. To find out how both these scooters stack up against each other, here's a detailed photo comparison. 

While the Yamaha NMax 160 is a proper maxi-scooter, the NTorq 125, on the other hand, is a sporty 125cc scooter from TVS. Consequently, the fascia of both scooters looks different as the NMax 160 gets a wide windscreen, an aggressively styled LED headlight, a spidey logo on its front mudguard and an Avenger badge with web graphics on its apron. The colour combinations in the graphics is a clear reference to the iron Spider armour. On the other hand, the NTorq 125 gets handlebar-mounted indicators, an LED headlight with twin DRL's. It gets a different Spiderman graphic upfront and a ‘62’ number (the year Spider-Man was introduced to the world) on its apron. The graphics pattern hints at a more old-school Spiderman compared to the Avengers-themed one in the NMax.

Moving to the side, you'll notice that the NMax 160 gets a Marvel badge, web patterns and a sticker that says ‘Limited Edition’ as well. Meanwhile, the NTorq 125 gets a spider emblem and a graphic that says 'Beyond Amazing' on its side panels. The tail of both scooters remains unchanged as they house an LED taillight. 

Both scooters are loaded to the gills with features. The NMax 160 gets a smart key, idle stop-start system, 12V charging port and a fully digital instrument cluster while the NTorq 125, on the other hand, features an engine kill switch, a fully digital Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster with navigation, and a 20-litre under-seat storage space that also houses a USB port and illumination light. 

Powering the NMax 160 is a 155cc liquid-cooled engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) that churns out 15.61PS and 13.73Nm. VVA helps in maintaining a balance of low-end grunt and top-end drive. On the other hand, the NTorq 125 draws power from a 124.8cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 9.5PS and 10Nm. Interestingly, the SuperSquad variant does not get riding modes as the RaceXP does. 

While both scooters use a telescopic fork upfront. The rear suspension duty on the NMax 160 is taken care of by dual shock absorbers while the NTorq 125 employs a monoshock setup. For braking, while the NMax 160 mounts a 230mm disc at both ends with ABS, the NTorq 125 on the other hand, features a 220/130mm disc/drum setup with CBS. There's also a difference in the wheel size as the NMax 160 rolls on 13-inch alloys while the NTorq 125 employs 12-inch rims at both ends. 

The NMax 160 is available in only the Metallic Red colour option and is priced at BRL 16,490 (around Rs 2.21 lakh). Meanwhile, the NTorq 125 is offered in the Amazing Red paint scheme and is priced at Rs 84,850 (ex-showroom Delhi). Yamaha initially planned to launch the NMax 155 but brought us the sportier-looking Aerox 155 instead. We wish Yamaha India had given the spidey treatment to the Aerox as that would’ve been a perfect tribute to the web-slinging superhero. Until that happens, if you’re an Indian Spiderman fan, the NTorq 125 Spiderman edition is the way to go.
