We pit one of the most promising 125cc scooters against the Hero's Maestro Edge 125-Fi

The TVS NTorq 125 has set a benchmark in the 125cc scooter space in terms of styling, features, handling and powertrain. The Maestro Edge 125-Fi, on the other hand, brings its own set of strengths. Which one would you go for if you were to choose between the two? To make things simpler, we compared the two based on real-world performance numbers, and here's who came out on top.

Acceleration:

TVS NTorq 125

Hero Maestro Edge 125-Fi

0-40kmph

3.68 seconds

3.52 seconds

0-60kmph

7.65 seconds

7.57 seconds

Despite producing slightly less power, the Maestro edge manages to edge past the NTorq in both the 0-40kmph and 0-60kmph runs. This is possible thanks to a lower weight of 110kg compared to the NTorq 125 which tips the scale at 116.1kg. The Maestro Edge also makes its power and torque slightly lower down the rev range (500 revs lower).

Roll-ons:

Hero Maestro Edge 125-Fi

20-50kmph

4.65 seconds

3.86s

This directly has an effect on roll-ons as well. The lightness of the Maestro Edge helps it accelerate faster from 20-50 making it the better scooter for quick overtakes within city limits.

Braking:

Hero Maestro Edge 125-Fi

60-0kmph

18.93m

22.67m

Here’s one area where the NTorq 125 outshines the Maestro Edge. Its braking setup allows it to put the anchor down and stop from 60-0kmph in just 18.93 metres, 3.74? metres before the Maestro.

City

57.04kmpl

Highway

53.4kmpl

56.48kmpl

Sadly, that’s the only area where the NTorq comes out on top as the Maestro’s fuel-injection system helps it deliver much better fuel efficiency in the city and out on the highway compared to the Carb NTorq 125. That said, the tables may turn once TVS updates the NTorq 125 to meet BS6 emission norms. Guess we'll just have to wait and watch.
