TVS has patented an air-injection system which helps in improving fuel economy and reducing emissions, and it could be used in its products in the near future.
TVS Motor, one of the leading two-wheeler manufacturers in India, has secured the patent for a new air-injection system, which can be used in the company’s future products. The new technology boosts the fuel economy of an engine while reducing exhaust emissions. The system works during deceleration by reducing the fuel supply to the engine.
The conventional air-injection system used to supply air at the exhaust port of the engine to dilute the exhaust gases. It helps in reducing emissions; however, fuel consumption remains the same. TVS worked on this drawback of the system and filed the improved version for a patent in 2014 that got approved just a couple of weeks ago.
For Indian buyers, fuel economy is one of the most important factors while shopping for a new vehicle. Better the fuel efficiency, more the customers you will get. So, the upcoming TVS two-wheelers can be expected to come equipped with the air-injection system to claim some better figures for fuel economy. And this will help TVS Motor compete with highly efficient products like the Hero Splendor iSmart and the Bajaj Platina.
